Dollhouse Cruising on Craigslist

Sometime between the winter and spring months of 2013, I was cruising Craigslist for a Dollhouse. I know kind of crazy since I had just started on my first house but I was already searching for the next project. I found a handmade Georgian style house. It was a fixer upper. I drove 40 minutes to meet this woman (she was very nice).  Once I got there and saw how big the house was, I thought, “Oh no.”  I drive a 4 door sedan. This house was 48’W x 16’D x 28’H, huge!! Now remember I was still living in my Condo (small space). Somehow this woman and I got this house in the back seat of my car and it took some effort. How I got that house out my car and up the flight of stairs to my Condo is a mystery.  Now I am face to face with this monstrosity in my Condo (buyer's remorse).  Immediately called my best friend and told her about my latest adventure in impulse shopping.  Sad thing is I no longer wanted the house. She suggested I donate the house for a Charity Auction at her son’s school.  What a great idea!! So I did. Below are some pictures of the house. And, yes it sold.

As you can see, I had to repair windows and replace the door. They were missing.

The interior was filled with old ugly wall paper. Tearing it off was just too tedious.

I decided to paint over the wall paper instead.

Had to restruct the interior walls in the foyer/entrance way.

The interior completed.

 The exterior completed.

Blue and White Striped Barrel Chairs

I recently bought these blue and white striped barrel chairs from Dollhousesdear.com . I thought they would go well in my Victoria’s Farmhouse.  I plan to use them in the dining room.  I made a dining room table (pictures coming soon) and hopefully it will pair together nicely.  These are the cutest miniature chairs.  It is difficult to find modern style miniature furniture and if you are lucky enough, they are expensive. These were reasonably priced. I adore them.

A Year All Ready!!! What's Been Up?

I know it’s been a year since I last posted on this Blog. I started this Blog with the right intentions. I just did not follow through with writing like I should have.  As for an update to what’s new with my Victoria’s Farmhouse Dollhouse (RGT), its assembled, exterior painted, and some interior walls painted. I will post pictures soon.  I have been reading many Blogs and Mini Forums gathering ideas and techniques. I have made furniture after failing to get the scale right a couple of times. I feel like I have grown so much over the last year, though I would still call myself a novice. There is just so much to learn about Miniatures. This year I have decided to participate in the Build-Along Project 2014 with Real Good Toys.  It’s a cabinet but I plan to make some sort of townhouse or hotel. The most exciting thing happened yesterday. I have found a Highland by Artply on Esty. Anyone who follows the Miniature world knows that this house is one of the most wanted and hard to get. I was strolling through Esty as I do from time to time to find unique miniatures and there it was. I think it took me about 20 minutes to buy it. Last year I blew an opportunity because I was over thinking the price and space in my Condo. However, now that I have moved into a house with more space, I don’t even think I blinked. I just bought it. Anyway, until next time, BTW I am posting a picture of the Highland. Can’t wait to build it.
